Starting or growing a family is one of the most personal decisions you'll make. It can also be one of the most complicated. Fertility challenges are more common than most people realize, and the road to parenthood looks different for everyone. Whether you're just beginning to think about starting a family, working through fertility treatment, or navigating adoption or surrogacy, the support available through your NALC Health Benefit Plan is more comprehensive than you might expect.

If you're enrolled in the High Option plan, you have access to Maven Clinic's Fertility & Family Building program at no additional cost. It's a digital health platform built around one goal: helping you find the shortest, most supported path to the family you're building.

What Maven actually is

Maven is a virtual health platform dedicated to women's and family health. Through the Maven app, you get 24/7 access to a network of providers across more than 30 specialties, a dedicated care advocate who helps you navigate your benefits, and resources designed for every stage of reproductive and family health. This isn't a call center or a reference library. It's a care platform with real providers, real appointments, and real guidance tailored to where you are in your journey.

What the Fertility & Family Building program covers

The program is built to meet you wherever you are on your path to parenthood. If you're trying to conceive naturally, you can connect with a trying-to-conceive coach who will work with you on goal-setting, reproductive education, ovulation tracking, and referrals when needed. If you're pursuing IUI or IVF, Maven connects you with reproductive endocrinologists, genetic counselors, and fertility specialists who can help you understand your options, prepare for treatment, and stay supported throughout. The program also covers egg freezing, adoption and surrogacy navigation, and male fertility care, because building a family doesn't follow a single script.

Fertility support is only part of the picture. Maven also covers maternity and newborn care, from pregnancy through postpartum, including partner support and care for miscarriage and pregnancy loss. Parents can access pediatric care, parenting coaching, and support for children with special needs. For members in midlife, Maven's menopause and midlife health program offers the same 24/7 virtual access to specialists in a stage of life that rarely gets enough attention.

How it works day to day

Everything begins with the Maven app. After enrolling, you are paired with a care advocate who clarifies your benefit options and facilitates connections with specialized providers. Because appointments are virtual and available 24/7, your care is never restricted by clinic hours or your physical location. Maven is designed to complement, not replace, your local fertility specialist or OB-GYN, providing an extra tier of clinical expertise and navigation that often feels out of reach.

Care that fits your life

Letter carriers work demanding schedules. A mid-morning appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist isn't always possible. Maven's virtual model removes that barrier. Whether you're in a major metro area or a rural route, the same access applies. You don't need a referral to get started, and you don't need to clear your schedule to get care.

Fertility care could be expensive, emotionally taxing, and often isolating. Having a benefit that provides real clinical support, not just information, is something worth knowing about. If you're enrolled in the High Option plan and you haven't looked into Maven yet, now is a good time to start! Visit http://mavenclinic.com/join/NALCHBP
